Rick did a fantastic job of answering our questions. Frankly I was flattered that he was so personable (and polite compared to NBA stars these days) Thanks Rick and Best of Luck!
Q.1
SP: What is your favorite memory from your career?
Rick: Watching my son, Scooter, make what turned out to be the winning FT
in the NCAA Final Four Championship game vs Oklahoma. For my career,
winning the 1975 NBA Championship.
Q.2
SP: How many autograph requests do you normally get in a day?
Rick: I probably receive around 10 requests a week through the mail.
Q.3
SP: What was your favorite sports athlete/role model as a youth?
Rick: Willie Mays.... That is why I wore #24
Q.4
SP: Who were your favorite teammates in your career?
Rick: Nate Thurmond, Al Attles, Clyde Lee, Tom Meschery and all of the
championship team members, especially Cliff Ray and Jeff Mullins.
Q.5
SP: Do you see any players in the NBA today that have a style of play
similar to you in your prime as an athlete?
Rick: They have way more physical talents, but don't understand the game
the way I did. I can't pick out a player.
Q.6
SP: Who is your favorite Singer/Music Group?
Rick: No favorite... I have many whose music I enjoy.
Q.7
SP: What is your favorite Bible verse? (if possible, why?)
Rick: Same for the Bible.... Too many good lessons to only choose one.
